The Master Craftsman of Indiana

There are good reasons why there’s a waiting list at Jim & Amy Elliott’s farm in Brookston, Ind, outside Lafayette. By general consensus, Jim Elliott is the ultimate horseman, the ‘Master Craftsman,’ who handles his charges with excellence.

“I take horses on a select basis at the farm, only having 36 stalls, and I always have a few of my own” states Elliott. Under the banner of Elliott Stallion Management, his approach is to give horses under his care time to rest and recoup, while keeping them under his watchful eye. The results speak volumes, as Elliott has found much success, including caring for a 2008 champion from the Under-Tack sale.

Elliott stands two stallions, both equal and obvious favorites of his, Article of Faith, a son of Storm Cat out of an End Sweep mare, and Ocean Indy, by AP Indy out of Sounding (FR). He speaks of both stallions in glowing terms, praising their soundness, correctness, stance and temperament.

With stall space limited, Elliott’s owner-customers stay with him year after year. In addition to horses from Indiana, several of his charges come from Illinois, Michigan, Ohio and Kentucky. “I’ve done it all” quips Elliott, and there’s no sign of his stopping anytime soon.
