Real Power in the Jim Edgar Futurity at Hawthorne

Trainer Chris Block and the Virginia H. Tarra Trust ran one-two in the $100,000 Jim Edgar Futurity at Hawthorne Race Course on Dec. 10.

Real Power, under a firm ride by Florent Geroux, slowly gained momentum heading for the stretch drive before shifting five-wide to take matters in hand for the win. The Block-Tarra combo’s Yankee Dealer couldn’t hold off the winner before finishing a very game second. Jimmy DiVito-trained Twelve Hundred, the 4-5 race favorite, was the show horse.

A Powerscourt gelding, Real Power paid $12.60, touring the 1-1/16 miles race in 1:47.40
