Goncalves wins No. 1000
According to statistics provided by Equibase Company, jockey Leandro R. Goncalves won his 1,000th race on Dec. 28. The Brazilian-born Goncalves, a perennial winner the past three years at Indiana Downs and Hoosier Park, as well as in Kentucky, guided Rich Hero to victory in the fifth race at Tampa Bay Downs.
