Revised gambling bill passes key House committee vote

A revised version of the gambling expansion bill passed an Illinois House committee on Nov. 8. The measure targets the goals of Gov. Pat Quinn's to keep expansion at a manageable level. For horsemen, the key component of the measure is to put slot machines at racetracks, which Quinn has said repeatedly he opposes.

The committee now sends the measure to the full House, who will consider it this week, which is the final time this year that the legislature is scheduled to be at the Capitol.
